Undergraduate Research: A Cognitive Apprenticeship Model

This article presents a cognitive apprenticeship model that can be used to organize undergraduate research. The purpose is to encourage students and faculty to become involved in undergraduate research by providing an outline of the undergraduate research program at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville. Theoretical articles and empirical studies are used to describe the relevance of this approach to undergraduate research. Procedural descriptions and student comments are included to demystifying the research process.
